Underneath the skin of the face, many fine muscles control our facial expressions and speech. Over time, these muscles can become frozen in a habitual position or expression. Ultimately, these muscles can cause persistent wrinkles in the facial skin that contribute to an appearance of age, stress, and fatigue.

The solution is facial rejuvenation with BOTOX® Cosmetic. Unlike injectable fillers such as JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel and Sculptra® that fill in wrinkles or depressions, BOTOX® Cosmetic physically weakens muscles under the skin to smooth away wrinkles so that the facial skin is relaxed and natural looking. Many of our patients choose to combine BOTOX® injections with a surgical procedure such as face lift, brow lift, or eyelid surgery for more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. BOTOX® Cosmetic also works well with skin rejuvenation treatments, but it is very effective on its own.

BOTOX® Injections: Treatment and Results

We always prepare your BOTOX® injections fresh on the day of your facial rejuvenation treatment at our Amarillo, Texas office. Dr. Proffer administers BOTOX® injections by carefully selecting the precise area of injection for the best possible results. The treatment is administered in small doses over an area of the face, targeting any problem muscles. The actual injections take only about 15 minutes, and the whole appointment typically takes less than an hour to complete.

Our facial rejuvenation patients typically experience no side effects after treatment, and you are free to return to your normal routine as soon as treatment is complete. Some minor redness is normal immediately after your injections, but this will fade within a few days. BOTOX® Cosmetic results appear gradually as the injections take effect, causing the facial muscles to relax. Because the paralysis of the facial muscles is temporary, re-injection is usually necessary within three to ten months to maintain your facial rejuvenation results.
