Amarillo, Texas - Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) for Rejuvenated Eyes

Wrinkles and sagging skin around our eyes can make us look tired and older than we feel. In extreme cases, excess eyelid skin can even begin to obscure the vision. At Proffer Surgical Associates in Amarillo, Texas, we can help you look younger and more rested through blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery. We can also surgically lift your eyelids to widen your visual field if drooping eyelids are negatively affecting your vision.

Is blepharoplasty right for you?

The best candidates for blepharoplasty are healthy men and women who want to improve the appearance of drooping eyelids in order to appear younger and more rested. Many of our patients choose to combine eyelid surgery with brow lift or face lift in order to improve additional problem areas. Blepharoplasty patients can also choose to include treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic.

Eyelid surgery is not safe for every patient, but most people are good candidates. As with all surgical procedures, there is some risk associated with the procedure. However, patients who visit Proffer Surgical Associates in Amarillo, Texas for eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) benefit from our sterling safety record and unwavering commitment to superior treatment throughout the process.

About Eyelid Surgery

View your procedure in 3D

We perform blepharoplasty under either local or general anesthesia. The incisions required for eyelid surgery are concealed in the natural crease of the upper eyelids and below the lashes in the lower eyelids. At these incision sites, Dr. Proffer removes excess fat and skin to lift the eyelids. If only the lower lids need to be treated, Dr. Proffer can perform a transconjunctival blepharoplasty, in which the incision is hidden inside the eyelids where scarring will be invisible.

Recovering from Blepharoplasty

Because blepharoplasty is an outpatient procedure, our patients return home the day of surgery to rest and recover. Dr. Proffer usually removes the sutures within four to six days. Post-surgical discomfort is typically mild, and can be treated with medication. Bruising and light sensitivity may last two weeks or more, and swelling fades within two weeks. In most cases it takes several weeks for the full benefits of surgery to become obvious, but when they do most eyelid surgery patients are thoroughly satisfied with their enhanced appearance.
