We’re in the seasons of change, and Proffer Surgical Associates is experiencing some change ourselves. We are excited to welcome Dr. Summer Clark, MD to the Proffer Surgical Associates surgical team.
Dr. Clark specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery, a specialized method of surgery with the highest cure rate of any method used to treat skin cancer. She attended medical school and completed her dermatology residency at the University of Oklahoma. She also attended Vanderbilt University, where she completed the Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship.
“From a young age, I was interested in science and medicine,” Dr. Clark says. “I chose to specialize in dermatology during my third year of medical school, and it was the perfect choice for me. Within dermatology, I found that I enjoyed surgical dermatology the most, and I was fortunate to be able to complete fellowship training at Vanderbilt University.”
After finishing her education, Dr. Clark eagerly returned to the area where she was raised and became an active part of the medical community. She wanted to practice with another Mohs surgeon in a cooperative atmosphere, so she joined fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon Dr. Liana Proffer at Proffer Surgical Associates.
“I am most looking forward to building my practice and getting to know my patients over time,” Dr. Clark says. “As I primarily perform surgery under local anesthesia, I enjoy getting to know my patients during their procedures. Also, I have the benefit of working with my fantastic nurses and technicians. They take excellent care of our patients and their enthusiasm is contagious.”
When she isn’t working. Dr. Clark enjoys spending time with her husband, Justin, and their two children, Madeleine and James. They frequently travel to their hometown of Boise City, OK, to visit family and help on the ranch, and they vacation in the mountains whenever they can. She also enjoys knitting sweaters, socks, and hats.
We are excited to have Dr. Clark on the team, and we’re looking forward to working with her for years to come!
