Otoplasty, also known as ear pinning, is a procedure to change the shape, position or size of the ears. You might consider otoplasty surgery if you're bothered by how far your ears stick out from your head or if your ears are misshapen due to an injury or birth defect. To reduce protrusion or minimize their size, a small incision is made in the natural fold behind the ear, and excess cartilage and skin are removed to reposition and reduce the shape and size. Once this is complete, the incisions are closed with a few stitches. Otoplasty is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure.
